Guwahati: Assam cabinet minister and state government spokesperson Pijush Hazarika said that the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP)’s education model has sunk the education system in the national capital.
His comment came as he hit at Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal when the latter criticized the Assam government for closing down several government schools for underperforming in the recent high school leaving certificate (HSLC) exam results and for various other reasons.
Kejriwal said that no school should be closed but needed to be uplifted with proper facility and education system. He said that governments must open new schools rather than shutting down schools.
To which Hazarika tweeted: “Firstly, schools in Assam are not being closed, rather amalgamated to improve the overall educational environment! Secondly, respected CM @ArvindKejriwal ji have no rights to speak on educational upliftment as his fake ‘Delhi Model Schools’ have been busted from time to time.”
“The AAP education model has demolished Delhi’s education system bringing down Class X pass % from 99.09% in 2011 to 81.27% in 2022! The great model schools of Delhi stand poorly in all aspects as compared to Puducherry! Kejriwal ji should visit Assam rather to learn,” he added further.
Earlier, Assam government announced that around 34 schools will be closed for recording zero per cent pass percentage in the HSLC exams, results of which were declared earlier in June this year.
Assam recorded a pass percentage of 56.49 percent in the latest HSLC results this year, a sharp decline from 93.10 per cent of 2021.
