Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb, who was delighted to see the first picture of pineapples and lemons sent from Dubai, said the state government’s initiative to protect the farmers from loss and to occupy national and international market was successful. The CM congratulated all the officials and the state residents for the success of the initiative.
Pineapples from Tripura, a Northeastern state, reached Dubai on August 7th, 2019, for the first time through the Mumbai port. On July 22nd, 2019, the Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb departed for Dubai with a flag of green pineapple from Kumarghat for Dubai.
He further said that with the success of the initiative, the state government will send more pineapples in the coming days. “In this way, the pineapple farmers of the state will be further encouraged to cultivate pineapple,” Deb said.
It may be mentioned that the state government bought the pineapples, which was formerly sold for Rs 5, at the rate of Rs 13. Despite this long passage, the fruits were in good condition reportedly and the apprehension of the appetite was not removed without any decomposition. Both the importers and the export traders are happy that the pineapples arrived in Dubai in fresh condition.
