GUWAHATI: A day after the BJP legislature party decided to replace former chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal with Himanta Biswa Sarma, PM Narendra Modi lauded Sonowal for acting as a fine administrator of the state during the party’s last tenure in the state.
On Monday, as Sarma assumed his office as the new chief minister of the state, PM Modi took it to Twitter and wrote: “My valued colleague @sarbanandsonwal Ji was at the helm of a pro-people and pro-development administration over the last five years. His contribution towards Assam’s progress and strengthening the party in the state is immense.”
He added: “Congratulations to @himantabiswa Ji and the other Ministers who took oath today. I am confident this team will add momentum to the development journey of Assam and fulfill aspirations of the people.”
To which, Sonowal reacted and said: “Thank you PM @narendra modi ji for your kind words. Your spirit of service and tremendous hard work has always been my inspiration. I will be forever grateful for your guidance in serving the Nation.”
Besides Sarma, 13 others have also taken oath as the state’s cabinet ministers on Sunday at Srimanta Sankardev Kalakhetra. Former CM Sonowal was also present.
