PM Modi will launch the BJP's campaign for Assembly elections in Delhi next year

All eyes are on Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s massive rally on December 22nd,2019 at Delhi’s Ramlila Maidan at a time when protests against the new Citizenship (Amendment) Act, 2019 (CAA) continue to rock the country.

Modi is scheduled to speak at the public rally around 11.30 am and is expected to bring up the CAA issue in his speech. He will launch the BJP’s campaign for Assembly elections in Delhi next year.

A per media reports, an estimated two lakh attendees from across north India are coming to the gala event aboard 3,000 buses.

The Delhi Police have made elaborate security arrangements at the venue, which is a little over a kilometre away from Old Delhi’s Daryaganj that was hit by violence on December 20th, 2019 during the protest against the amended citizenship act.

Massive protests broke out across the country after the Rajya Sabha passed the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill which seeks to grant Indian citizenship to the people belonging to the Hindus, Jains, Christians, Sikhs, Buddhists, and Parsis who have become the victims of religious persecution in Pakistan, Bangladesh, and Afghanistan and entered India on or before December 31st, 2014.
