Guwahati: In a crackdown against narcotics substance in the state, Assam Police busted two major rackets in the city as well as in Morigaoin district in last 24 hours. At least three persons were arrested and huge cache of narcotic substances were seized during the operation too.
In the city, acting on a tip off, the city police’s Crime Branch on Tuesday morning conducted a raid at Athgaon area in front of Marwari Hospital under Bharalumukh Police Station and seized 13 gm (one pack) narcotic substance, suspected to be brown sugar and one vehicle too.
Police sleuth have nabbed two peddlers namely Tosur Ali of Gorchuk and Mojina Khatun of Bohori, Barpeta in the raid.
Later, on being led by accused Ali raid conducted another raid at Nizarapar, Kotahbari area and recovered suspected 13 gms of brown sugar, 19 numbers of suspected brown sugar CC, Rs 59,500, 16 numbers of silver coins along with other valuable jewelleries.
In the other operation, Morigaon Police on Monday night conducted a search operation in the house of one Md. Tafatjal Ahmed of Tumukabari village under Mikirbheta police station and recovered 45 containers with suspected heroin and two plastic packets containing the substance.
Police sources said the total seizure would be weighing around 83.29 gms. The suspected drug was seized from the house, which were kept concealed in a damaged electrical rice cooker.
During search, police also recovered an amount of Rs 51,820 and two bikes, two mobile phones from the possession of Abdul Bahar of Balijan.
All the accused persons are being arrested. Investigation is going on observing all the formalities of NDPS Act.
