Political Twist! AAMSU chief advisor Azizur Rahman likely to join Raijor Dal

Rahman likely to contest from the Naoboicha constituency for Phase-I election in poll-bound Assam

Guwahati: In yet another political twist, it has come to light that All Assam Minority Students’ Union (AAMSU) chief advisor Azizur Rahman is likely to join Akhil Gogoi-led Raijor Dal.

Azizur Rahman reportedly held a meeting at the Gauhati Medical College Hospital (GMCH) with the leadership of Raijor Dal on Sunday.

Rahman is likely to contest from Naoboicha constituency for Phase-I election.

Interestingly, on Saturday, Raijor Dal earlier announced its candidates’ list for 11 constituencies for Phase-I, thus, keeping the Naoboicha constituency under the Lakhimpur district on standby.

Raijor Dal will field its candidates in 12 constituency seats out of the 47 in the first phase and 6 seats out of 39 seats in the second phase of assembly elections.

On the other hand, AIUDF MLA Mamun Imdadul Haqua Choudhury was reportedly denied ticket from Naoboicha constituency as Congress leader Bharat Narah is likely to contest from Naoboicha constituency.

It is noteworthy to mention that Congress-led “mahajoth” or grand alliance has AIUDF, BPF, CPI(M), CPI, CPI(ML) and the Anchalik Gana Morcha are yet to declare its candidate from Naoboicha constituency.
