Dhemaji, April 17, 2019

Re-polling will take place in one booth in Dhemaji district, where the election was held in the first phase, for not erasing the mock poll data.

The Election Commission of India(ECI) gave the order that now re-poll will be held along with the second phase on April 18th, 2019 and the polling booth falls under the Lakhimpur Lok Sabha constituency.

According to the election department, the officials of the polling station number 165, Dhemaji Town High School did not erase the data collected from the mock polling that was conducted in the presence of the agents of different parties.

As per reports, the polling began on April 11th, 2019 with the mock poll data intact and this was first shown by Congress’ polling agent. Replacement of the EVM was demanded immediately but the voting machine did not reach on time. A total of 78.23 per cent were recorded in the polling booth.

Notably, Silchar, Autonomous District (SC), Karimganj (SC), Nagaon and Mangaldoi districts will go to elections on April 18th, 2019.
