Guwahati: A chaos occurred at the Directorate of Library Services, Guwahati office in the morning hours of July 24th, 2019 after the written examinations for the posts of Library Assistant, Junior Assistant (HoD), Junior Assistant (District Level) were deferred. The examinations were scheduled to be held on July 24th, 2019.
The applicants who had come to the examination centre to appear for examinations alleged that they were not informed about the deferment and further alleged that the printed notice informing the deferment was put up after the applicants arrived at the Director’s office.
As per reports, thousands of candidates had come from different parts of the state to appear for the examinations.
An irked candidate from Bongaigaon, while speaking to Time8, said, “Candidates came from different parts of the state to appear for the examination only to learn that it has been postponed. I have come all the way from Bongaigaon for the exams, it was only after getting here I came to know about the deferment. This is totally not acceptable,”.
“The authorities informed that the postponement was not published on the website and neither was there any intimation to the candidates. Although they made apologies, it was extremely irresponsible on their part. I have been informed that the deferment notice has been published in only two newspapers. It is impossible for a candidate to know about the cancellation notice in such conditions?” she added.
It is reported that the concerned authorities on July 19th, 2019 published a cancellation notice in a news form in the front page of The Assam Tribune, a Guwahati-based English daily and in page 6 of the Amar Asom, a Guwahati-based Assamese daily.
