Prabajan Virodhi Manch to hold public rally against illegal immigrants in Guwahati

Guwahati, December 6: The Prabajan Virodhi Manch, a forum against infiltration on Thursday announced to launch a campaign against the illegal immigrants on December 8 here in Guwahati.

The public rally will be organized at Latasil field from 12 pm onwards.

Addressing the media today, Upamanyu Hazarika, senior advocate and convenor of the Manch said that they have three objectives behind the campaign and adoption of the measures to ensure that the indigenous people do not become a minority.

The three objectives include issuing of land reservation, government jobs, trade licenses and so on onlyh to the Indian citizens and residents of Assam as per the cut-off date 1951. Re-verification of those included in the final draft of NRC in the border and immigrant dominated districts and non-inclusion of any foreigners through the Citizenship Bill or any other measure.

Hazarika further mentioned that representatives of the indigenous peoples’ forum from several districts including Morigaon, Kamrup(Rural), Darrang and so on will take part in the rally and share their experience on how they were displaced by infiltrators and turned into refugees in their own homeland.
