    Prime accused of the Tinsukia journalist murder case arrested

    Journalist Bijendeep Tanti was found dead in his office in Assam’s Tinsukia district on Saturday.

    GUWAHATI: The Tinsukia police on Sunday arrested the prime accused involved with the district’s journalist murder case that created sensation.  

    The Tinsukia police said, “Based on all the circumstantial evidence gathered during the investigation, it was ascertained that a girl identified as Asonti Bag committed the crime. She has been arrested and taken under 5 days remand. ”

    According to the Tinsukia police, the incident took place in a closed-door in between 12 PM to 1 AM on Saturday night. “Asonti was a friend of the deceased. She visited the journalist on a personal work on the fateful day. Initially, they had a verbal confrontation and turned into a murder later,” the police revealed.    

    The prime accused worked as a laboratory technician in a mobile medical unit. “The accused spent with the body throughout the night and left the spot in the very next morning,” the police added.

    Journalist Bijendeep Tanti was found dead in his office in Assam’s Tinsukia district on Saturday. Besides working as a correspondent for a private media house, Tanti was also the owner of news website ‘Dinpratidin’.
