Tens of thousands of people showed up at Khanapara Veterinary College playground in Guwahati to listen to former Congress president Rahul Gandhi on December 28th, 2019.
Congress activists from across the state had started arriving in the city from mid-morning to attend the Congress rally. Almost all the top-rung leaders of the Congress party in the State also participated in the rally.
The Congress leader will lead an anti-Citizenship (Amendment) Act (CAA) protest rally to take his party’s ‘Save Constitution-Save India’ message to the people of the country.
After the rally, Gandhi is scheduled to meet the family members of two deceased persons – Sam Stafford and Dipanjal Das – at Hatigaon area in Guwahati and Chhaygaon in Kamrup district.
Five people died and several others sustained injuries in the violent incidents during the anti-CAA protests in Assam earlier this month.
