Rahul To Lead Anti-CAA Rally In Guwahati On Dec 28

Violent protests broke out in several parts of the country after the citizenship law was passed in parliament on December 11th, 2019

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi is likely to visit Guwahati on December 28th, 2019 and address a party rally against the controversial Citizenship (Amendment) Act, 2019 (CAA).

The Assam Pradesh Congress Committee will hold a rally at the Veterinary College ground at Khanapara. Rahul will also attend the party’s foundation day programme in the city.

Earlier, the Congress leader had said that Act is a “criminal attack on the North East”. In a series of tweets on December 22nd, 2019, Gandhi alleged that the two BJP leaders are dividing the country as they can’t face public anger against unemployment and the state of the economy.

Violent protests broke out in several parts of the country after the citizenship law was passed in parliament on December 11th, 2019. Several people have died in Assam, Karnataka and Uttar Pradesh in violence over the week.

Gandhi said the students are the future of India and no student should ‘allow Modi and Shah to divide the country”. The Congress had also staged ‘satyagraha’ at Rajghat “to protest against the hate & violence unleashed on India by Modi-Shah”.
