Rajnath Singh leaves for Nagaland, to inaugurate Hornbill festival today

Kohima, December 1: Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh will inaugurate the 18th edition of Nagaland Hornbill Festival on Saturday.

The Home Minister will be the Chief Guest of the inauguration function of Nagaland Hornbill Festival at Kisama and US Ambassador to India Kenneth I. Juster would be the Guest of Honour.

“Leaving New Delhi for Nagaland. Shall attend the inaugural session of ‘Hornbill Festival’ in Kohima. Hornbill Festival offers unique opportunity to different tribes of the State to interact with each other and share their cultural heritage with other states. Look forward to it,” Singh tweeted.

The 18th edition of the Hornbill Festival, 2018 will see celebration of the traditional values of Nagaland’s 16 tribes and will witness basking in a carnival like festival.

The State Tourism and Arts and Culture departments of Nagaland who is all set to host the Hornbill Festival, has a variety of competitions and events for its visitors to keep them entertained.

President Ram Nath Kovind also extended greetings to Nagaland on his Twitter handle.

It may be mentioned that earlier the festival was celebrated for seven days and was primarily held in the heritage village of Kisama, but due to its popularity the festival has been increased to three more days with some added events spilled out to Nagaland’s capital Kohima and the Agri Expo in Dimapur.
