Guwahati, January 13:  Alleging illegal supply of livestock in Assam the All India Livestock Traders and Transporter Association rued the fact that illegal trade is active in the cow market at 9-mile.

Association general secretary Munna Saikia stated that illegal supply of livestock to other states has been rampant in a free flow manner through Assam. “It has been possible due to administration inaction,” Saikia said.

“A huge syndicate has been set up in the process for the free flow of illegal supply. There has been an understanding between the administration and illegal traders. The government is losing revenue due to this understanding,” he further said.

Saikia alleged that traders of Dhubri and Mankachar districts have been running illegal trade in Guwahati and Meghalaya.

“Suppliers from Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and Bengal are associated with this illegal trade of livestock,” he said.
