Guwahati, September 14: The Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) legislator Satyabrat Kalita today attacking the State BJP president Ranjeet Kumar Dass over the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, 2016, suggested the latter to give up politics and join astrology.
This came after Dass, as opposed to AGP’s earlier claims of discussing the amendment bill with the Chief Minister, denied of any discussion being held in the inter-coalition part meet.
“He (Dass) was not present during our meeting with the Chief Minister. How did he know what was discussed? Now, if he can predict things, he should give up his political career and join astrology.” Kalita said during a media interaction on the Centre-proposed Citizenship Amendment Bill, 2016.
Kalita went more scathing in his attacks when he said, “If Dass is making assumptions like this on his behalf and not on the behest of the party, i don’t think he is capable enough to be the president of BJP.”
Earlier the AGP had threatened to sever its alliance with the BJP if the Bill is passed.
The BJP, which has 61 seats in the 126-member House, formed its government in May 2016 in an alliance with the AGP and the Bodoland People’s Front(BPF).
Kalita further added that the BJP president with his false remarks is trying to create misunderstanding with its ally party.
“Will give importance if PM Modi, Amit Shah, CM Sonowal, Himanta Biswa Sarma come forward to break ties with us, others’ remarks are insignificant”, he further added.
