Ration card holders to get free medical treatment benefits of Rs 5 lakhs: Himanta Biswa Sarma

Guwahati: Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Sunday announced free medical services worth Rs 5 lakh for families who hold ration cards.

During the inauguration of various projects and schemes from Rangia Town, Sarma said, “Under the Pradhan Mantri Ayushman Bharat Scheme and Mukhya Mantri Ayushman Bharat Scheme, families with ration cards will now receive free medical care worth up to Rs 5 lakh annually.”

“Those families who don’t hold ration cards will be provided this year so that beneficiaries are able to reap the benefits of free rice, and pulses under National Food Security Act (NFSA),” he added.

“This year the state government will begin Mukhya Mantri Awaas Yojana, under which each of the beneficiaries belonging to the poor financial background will get one house”, Sarma stated.

Sarma inaugurated and laid the foundation for 23 projects worth Rs 545 cr at Rangia today. 

Taking to Twitter, Sarma wrote, “As we observe “A Day dedicated to Development”, I inaugurated & laid the foundation for 23 projects worth Rs 545 cr at Rangia today.  I have directed officials to ensure timely execution so these initiatives will bear the fruits of development & prosperity for the people of Assam.”

He also inaugurated a 4-lane link road that will connect Rangia to NH-31. He said that the state government is committed to invest over Rs.10,000 crores in FY 2023-2024 to create world-class infrastructure in Assam.

“I had the pleasure of dedicating a state-of-the-art 47-bed ICU at Rangiya Model Hospital. Assam is witnessing a silent revolution in healthcare. We are determined to bring quality healthcare infrastructure closer to our towns and villages”, CM tweeted. 

CM Sarma inaugurated a post-graduation block at Rangiya College, upgrading it to a PG institution.

“Health & Education are the front wheels of Assam’s developmental journey. I had the pleasure of inaugurating a post-graduation block at Rangiya College, upgrading it to a PG institution. With this, fewer students will have to leave home for studies,” he tweeted.
