Guwahati: In a heartrending incident, a man 46-year-old man was crushed to death after a tree fell onto his home during Monday’s storm in the Lakhimpur district.

The deceased was identified as Tonsila Gopal, 46, a resident of Diju in Lakhimpur. Fortunately, his two-year-old daughter, who was sleeping with him, survived.

Notably, a heavy storm in the early hours of Monday night disrupted several villages in Bogolijan, Joyhing, Diju, Naoboicha, Laluk, Bangalmara and other areas of the Lakhimpur district.

Later, locals informed the forest department, following which; a team rushed to the spot and recovered the body within an hour.
