Biswanath, December 6: The Assam State Election Commission has announced that re-polling for the Panchayat Polls in Gup Sadharoo Kachari Line LP School polling booth would be held on December 7.

The announcement came after the first phase of the Panchayat polls turned violent in Biswanath district after a group of irked locals set the ballot box on fire.

On Wednesday evening, state election commissioner, H.N. Bora disclosed that there have been some reports of “errors” in regard to voter names and symbols from some districts.

Tension gripped the district when names of BJP candidate Puja Chaura, contesting for the Anchalik Panchayat member, and Congress candidate Padmini Ghatowar, contesting for the Anchalik Panchayat member, was replaced by names of Kuwari Panchayat candidate Nitya Narzary and Bharati Devi.

“We are yet to receive a formal report. But re-polling will be held in some districts on December 7,” Bora said.
