Taking a strong note, the Nagaland Police will take legal action against a newly-wed couple who are said to be the son and daughter-in-law of Bohoto Kiba, ‘kilo kilonser’ (home minister) of National Socialist Council of Nagaland-Unification (NSCN-U) for brandishing assault rifles at their wedding reception on November 9th, 2019 in Dimapur.

As per a report filed by India Today, Nagaland governor RN Ravi has directed the State Director General of Police to register a case against Kiba and his wife and seize the weapons with immediate effect.

The photographs and videos of the newly-wed posing with AK 56 and M16 assault rifles took social media by storm. The guests present at the ceremony were taken aback and were seen recording the couple brandishing the shiny firearms instead of flowers (as is the practice) on their mobile phones, several media reported.

A section of social media users is critical of the couple’s act while coming down heavily on the law and order situation in Nagaland while there were also others who wished the couple on their marriage.

The NSCN-U is a breakaway faction of NSCN-Isak Muivah. It is a part of the seven rebel outfits, which are in peace talks with the Centre under the umbrella banner of Naga National Political Groups (NNPGs).
