Guwahati: The death toll in Arunachal Pradesh landslide has gone up to eight after a missing woman’s body was recovered on Friday.
The death toll rose to eight after the body of 35-year-old Kusum Rai, who went missing, was recovered from the debris in the backside of Punjabi Dhaba in Itanagar,
The body of the woman was recovered from the debris in the backside of Punjabi Dhaba in the city after six days of extensive search operation.
Earlier, two bodies were also recovered from the spot and the woman was feared dead after their house was hit by a landslide on Sunday night.
Besides, two Public Works Department workers also buried in a landslide at Ganga-Jully Basti Road while trying to extricate a motorcycle stuck in the mud on Monday.
Three people lost their lives due to landslides while another is still missing in Kurung Kumey district, State Disaster Management Authority (SDMA) said.
Several places in Arunachal Pradesh have been recording incidents of landslide caused by heavy rainfall over the last few days. Some 3,000 people in 33 villages of 14 districts were hit by heavy rain till Wednesday.
Nearly 392 houses were damaged across the state while at least 7.6 hectares of cultivated fields have been destroyed.
