Rescued in West Bengal, Barpeta woman reunited with family after 3 years

Guwahati, August 10: A woman from Assam’s Barpeta district, who had gone missing from her home in 2015, was rescued last week by cops and residents of Sarisha near Diamond Harbour, South 24 Parganas district in West Bengal.

As per media reports, Majiran Begum mysteriously went missing shortly after her divorce.

On July 31, she went into labour and delivered outside an eatery in Sarisha. The locals intimated the police and Majiran was rushed to a hospital.

According to South 24 Parganas police, it was difficult to locate her family initially as no one could understand her language. Later, an NGO contacted its counterpart in Assam with whom Majiran could share her home address. The South 24 Parganas police then contacted its counterpart in Assam and Assam Police informed her family.

The family members came to Sirsha and Majiran was reunited with her family on Thursday.
