    Retrenchment in political parties: After BJP, AIUDF expels senior party leader

    Guwahati: Several political leaders in the last 36 hours have been expelled for allegedly engaging in anti-party activities amidst the ongoing general assembly elections in Assam.

    After Bharatiya Janata Party, the All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF) party on Monday expelled AIUDF Goalpara unit working president Saan Ali Miya for his alleged involvement in anti-party activities.

    As per a press statement, the termination letter was signed by AIUDF, administrative general secretary and party president Hafiz Bashir Ahmed Qasimi and issued by AIUDF GS Haider Hussain Borah.

    Earlier, BJP state president Ranjeet Dass had expelled seven nominated candidates for going against party protocols by contesting in state polls independently.

    The nominated candidates were identified as Deepak Rabha (Dudhnoi, Goalpara), Sailen Kalita (Dispur, Guwahati), Shantanu Kalita (Borkhetri, Nalbari), Jyotirmoy Sharma (Dharmapur, Nalbari), Mubarak Hussain (Dhubri), Baleswar Rongpi (West Guwahati), Dharma Narayan Nath (East Goalpara).
