Rift wide open in Tripura | BJP tribal leaders want to end alliance

Agartala, September 14: In a major development, the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) Janajati Morcha (ST frontal organisation) has demanded to sever ties with the Indigenous Peoples Front of Tripura (IPFT), their tribal ally in state government.

The Janajati Morcha stated The IPFT is spreading chaos in the state over different issues.

“They are spreading chaos. Development works of the state government are worst hit due to this. Common people are fed up with their activities,” said Sanjoy Debbarma, president, Janajati Morcha.

“We have urged BJP state president and Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb to remove the IPFT from the alliance. Deb assured us that the problem will be discussed with them,” he said.

BJP state vice-president and Janajati Morcha leader Rampada Jamatia also accused IPFT supporters of attacking his house at Killa.

“MLA of Golaghati constituency Birchandra Debbarma were also attacked by the IPFT supporters. Debbarma also lodged an FIR with the police,” he said.

Meanwhile, the IPFT leader stated that they had joined hands with BJP to strengthen their movement for ‘Tipraland’.
