    Rishi Kapoor’s Contribution To Indian Cinema Will Never Be Forgotten: Assam CM

    Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal said he is deeply anguished to learn about the demise of the legendary actor Rishi Kapoor

    Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal paid his last respects to Rishi Kapoor after the actor died at the H N Reliance Hospital in Mumbai on April 30th, 2020.

    Kapoor was 67. Soon after the veteran actor’s death, Sonowal tweeted that the actor’s “invaluable contribution to Indian cinema will never be forgotten”

    Assam Chief Minister added that he is deeply anguished to learn about the demise of the legendary actor.

    Sonowal highly praised the veteran actor for essaying a plethora of roles entertaining one generation after another.

    “My prayers to the Kapoor family in this time of grief,” Sonowal said.

    Kapoor returned to India last September after undergoing treatment for cancer in the US for almost a year. The actor was hospitalized twice in February 2020 due to his health issues.

    Born on September 4th,1952, Kapoor received the National Film Award for his debut role as a child artist in his father Raj Kapoor’s 1970 film Mera Naam Joker (1970).

    Kapoor married actress Neetu Singh, his 15-time co-star, on January 22nd, 1980.

    The couple has two children – actor Ranbir Kapoor and designer Riddhima Kapoor Sahani.

    He is the paternal uncle of actresses Karisma Kapoor and Kareena Kapoor.

    Kapoor has been in controversies for his comments on being a “beef-eating Hindu”, social media.

    The actor’s autobiography Khullam Khulla: Rishi Kapoor Uncensored, was released on January 15th, 2017. Kapoor wrote the book along with Meena Iyer, and the title was published under Harper Collins.

    Kapoor had recently announced his next project, a remake of Hollywood film The Intern, also featuring Deepika Padukone.
