RMC warns of widespread rainfall in Assam and Arunachal Pradesh till Monday

Guwahati: Assam and Arunachal Pradesh are likely to witness widespread rainfall till August 1, 2022, the Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC) said on Sunday.

According to an RMC report, the monsoon trough at mean sea level now passes through Ferozpur, Rohtak, Meerut, Gorakhpur, Muzaffarpur, Balurghat, central parts of Bangladesh, Agartala and thence eastwards to the northeast Bay of Bengal. A cyclonic circulation lies over northeast Uttar Pradesh & neighbourhood between 0.9 km & 1.5 km above mean sea level.

Widespread rainfall with isolated heavy falls and thunderstorm/lightning is very likely over Assam and Arunachal Pradesh to continue till August 1, whereas, scattered to fairly widespread light/moderate rainfall with thunderstorms and lightning is very likely to continue over Nagaland, Manipur and Mizoram till August 5, the report stated.
