    Rohingya Man Who Was Illegally Residing In India For 9 Years Arrested In Cachar


    Silchar: Acting on a tip-off, the Assam Rifles on July 19th, 2019 arrested a suspected Rohingya who is said to be illegally residing in Silchar’s Berenga Baagdahara for the last nine years.

    The person has been identified as Alam Hussain Mazumdar alias Alam Hussain Choudhury. The arrested person is said to be a resident of Rakhatan located in Myanmar.

    As per reports, Alam married a local girl and had also acquired a PAN Card, Voter ID Card, bank passbooks and other necessary documents. He was staying with his wife at Bagadhar Part IV.

    According to the officials, Alam is suspected of working as a spy for some militant outfits. Alam first travelled to Bangladesh under a false identity, later travelled to Saudi Arabia and Pakistan.

    He then came back to Bangladesh and infiltrated into India, as per information available. For a few days, he also stayed in Haflong. A number of forged and suspicious documents were recovered from his possession.
