    Rs 56 Crore Released To Tackle Flood-Related Disaster In Assam

    Guwahati: The Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA) has informed that an amount of Rs 56 crore has been released to the flood-affected districts of Assam to help them recover the disaster.

    It may be mentioned that the flood situation in Assam has worsened as the river Brahmaputra along with its tributaries are continuing to flow above the danger mark due to incessant rains. The flood has claimed eleven lives till now while more than 26.45 lakh people have been affected in 28 of the 33 districts in the state.

    Additional Chief Secretary of Assam Home, Political, Revenue and DM Department, Kumar Sanjay Krishna informed that all Deputy Commissioners (DCs) have been instructed to provide rescue and relief operations to the flood-hit districts. Krishna further added that the people not coming to the relief camps have been provided with food.

    Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal on July 11th, 2019 also directed the district administrations to accelerate relief and rescue operations as the second wave of flood has affected over 24 lakh people till now. He also took stock of the measures taken by the DCs of the flood-affected districts of the state via video conferencing.
