Sarbananda Sonowal summoned to Delhi; What’s in fate?
GUWAHATI: The fate of former Assam chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal was likely to be decided soon by BJP’s central leadership, as Sonowal flew to New Delhi. it was his first visit to the national capital after the formation of the state government under Himanta Biswa Sarma.
Though following the election results, speculations were high whether the BJP central leadership would choose Sonowal as the chief minister of the state for the second time, later Sarma was chosen. Sonowal was also not picked as a cabinet minister in the Sarma led government.
The new CM Sarma had said that the Central leadership would give Sonowal a fitting position.
On Thursday, Sonowal was likely to attend a high-level meeting with BJP national president JP Nadda and union home minister Amit Shah. The meeting was likely to decide the future course of Sonowal and sources said that he might be offered a Central ministry taking into account his past experience both in the state and at the Centre.
Sonowal before becoming the CM of Assam was the union minister of youth affairs and sports from 2014 to May 2016.
Sonowal was accompanied by the state’s water resource minister Pijush Hazarika who would call upon the union water resource minister to discuss the flood situation of the state.
