Saubhagya scheme | Around 2.5 lakh households in Assam, Meghalaya yet to be electrified

Guwahati, January 20: Around 2.5 lakh households in Assam and Meghalaya are left to be electrified under the Pradhan Mantri Sahaj Bijli Har Ghar Yojana (Saubhagya) which was launched in September 2017.

According to a recent report, India will achieve 100 per cent household electrification by January end, with 2.44 crore families having received power connections out of the targeted 2.48 crore under the Rs 16,320 crore Saubhagya scheme.

The only states left to be electrified are Assam, Meghalaya, Rajasthan and Chattisgarh with 1,63,016 households in Assam, 86,317 in Meghalaya, 88,219 in Rajasthan and 20,293 in Chattisgarh.

The Saubhagya scheme envisages providing last mile connectivity and electricity connections to all remaining households in rural as well as urban areas.
