Saudi Return Man From Assam’s Hailakandi Tests COVID-19 Positive

Another person in Assam has been tested positive for the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) in Barak Valley’s Hailakandi.

Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on his Twitter handled announced it.

He wrote on Twitter, “Alert , A person from Hailakandi district, with a travel history to Saudi Arabia, has been confirmed as #COVID19 positive. The total number of #Covid patients in #Assam now stands at 28.”

With this new case, the official confirmed COVID-19 cases for Assam has reached 28.

The 65-year-old man has a travel history of visiting Saudi Arab but the source location of his infection is yet to be known. No links of him visiting the Tablighi Jamat or Nizamuddin have yet been claimed.

One more COVID-19 positive case was reported from Dhubri district earlier on Tuesday morning, taking the total number in Assam to 27 but with this new case, the total number has reached 28.

This patient too participated in the Tablighi Jamaat congregation in Nizamuddin Markaz in Delhi last month.

The Nizamuddin Markaz, the Tablighi Jamaat headquarters in south Delhi has emerged as a COVID-19 hotspot in the country. Out of the 28 COVID-19 positive cases in Assam, 26 are linked with the Nizamuddin Markaz gathering.
