GUWAHATI: Observing that the Covid19 situation in the country is likely to go out of control, the Supreme Court on Monday asked the Centre and all states to file within two days status reports detailing steps taken to deal with the current COVID-19 situation
The court also sounded an alarm for the Covid-19 situation ahead – “worse things may happen in December if states are not well prepared.”
Noting that the pandemic has worsened in places like Delhi and Gujarat, the apex court has sought an affidavit from the Delhi, Maharashtra, Gujarat, and Assam governments by Thursday, on the steps taken by them in regard to the current COVID-19 condition in the respective states.
The top court observed that part of the reason for the surge in cases could be attributed to low adherence to physical distancing norms during the festival season.
In Assam, the total Covid19 cases reached 211513 cases on Sunday night with at least 3142 active cases and 974 deaths.
