SC To Hear Plea On Meghalaya-Assam Boundary Dispute On April 26

The Supreme Court will hold its first hearing on the boundary dispute between Meghalaya and Assam on April 26th, 2019.

It may be mentioned here that THS Bonny, the candidate of Knun Hynniewtrep National Awakening Movement (KHNAM) for the forthcoming Lok Sabha election had filed a PIL at the Supreme Court in January 2019 concerning this issue.

As per media reports, the apex court has directed all the three parties (Central Government, Assam and Meghalaya Government) to reply in front of the court concerning this issue on April 26th, 2019.

“If there is no interstate boundary dispute then the residents residing at the border area between Meghalaya and Assam will be able to have peace and tranquillity without having to deal with any problem,” he said.
