Guwahati: Amidst 75th Independence Day celebrations, a fierce scuffle broke out between two groups over a rooster at Rangangeshwari in Nagarbera under Kamrup District on Monday.

In the scuffle, a woman identified as Fufatan Nessa sustained severe injuries and was rushed to Nagarbera primary health centre (PHC) for treatment.

According to reports, the victim woman was beaten up by her three brothers-in-law namely Hashem, Yunus, and Maqbool.

It is learned that the victim’s rooster which entered her relative’s house in the neighborhood to find food, triggered a physical altercation between the two sides.

Meanwhile, a case was lodged by the victim woman in connection to the incident at Nagarbera police station.

The police investigation into the case is underway.
