    Security Beefed Up Ahead Of Durga Puja In Guwahati

    Jalukbari police arrested one ULFA-I cadre from Kamakhya Railway Station on September 25, 2019

    With a few days left for Durga puja, the city police have beefed up security to prevent any possible attempt to create unrest by miscreants during the festival.

    A day after the arrest of one United Liberation Front of Asom- Independent (ULFA-I) cadre in the city, Guwahati police commissioner Deepak Kumar on September 26th, 2019, said, “All adequate measures have been taken to prevent any possible untoward incident during the Durga puja. After the arrest of the cadre, the presence of more cadres is suspected.”

    Based on specific inputs, the Jalukbari police on September 25th, 2019, arrested one ULFA-I cadre Diganta Asom alias Mithu Chutia from the Kamakhya Railway Station.

    As per information, the cadre joined the ULFA-I in January 2018 and underwent training till June 2018 in Myanmar. “An investigation is underway in the matter,” Kumar said.
