In a world of gadgets, books are still our best friends. They are the best investment as they guide and inspire us.
In a move to encourage reading, mini roadside libraries have been set up in Mizoram’s capital Aizawl. People can take, donate and read books whenever they want – all for free.
Photographs of such mini roadside libraries in Aizawl has taken the internet by storm. The post was shared by an IFS officer Parveen Kaswan. He captioned the post as,”Now this is what every city must copy. Libraries are the best investment for nation-building.”

This roadside library not only encourages reading and but also helps in building a community by providing free access to books. The initiative received warm appreciation by social media users and bibliophiles.
It may be mentioned, Aizawl got its first-ever book café last year. The Book Café is located in the heart of the city at Hrangbana House, a shopping complex in Chanmari.
Let’s check out a few comments:
We must also appreciate that ppl there also seem more civilized. If this was Delhi, those books would have been gone to a scrap dealer within minutes.

Beautiful isn't it?! A few years ago, citizens in Dimapur pulled in resources to open the first public library! I still visit children libraries and get books. Given I missed out on so many amazing books as a child, I balance my life with books meant for kids from 4 yrs till 100!

I am sorry to say this but this concept will not be possible in most places in India. People would steal those books in minutes.

Mizoram is a very literate and civilized state.
Mizoram has indeed shown the way for other states to adopt.
