Guwahati: Family members and villagers mourn over the death of Assam Rifles soldier Suman Swargiary at his native village in Thaikarakuchi of Baksa district on Monday.
Emotions ran high as his mortal remains arrived at the residence.
In the meanwhile, civilians from across the district already gathered to pay their rich tribute and last respect to the martyred soldier.
Assam Rifles soldier Suman Swargiary lost his life in the Manipur terror attack which took place on November 13 in Manipur’s Singhat.
Earlier, the mortal remains of Rifleman Suman Swargiary arrived at the Guwahati airport at around 7.30 am on Monday.
At Guwahati’s Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport, Assam Health Minister Keshab Mahanta, senior police officers and administration officials paid tribute to the martyred soldier’s mortal remains.
Taking to Twitter, Minister Mahanta wrote, “Rich and final tributes to the braveheart Suman Swargiary. The martyred Assam Rifles soldier will always be remembered for his great sacrifice at the call of duty. Heartfelt condolences to the undaunted Jawan’s family. May they find the strength to deal with the loss. Prayers.”
“Humble Homage & Tribute to Rfn Suman Swargiary of @official_dgar , who made the supreme sacrifice for the Nation in Manipur. My heart goes out to the families of all those who fell to terrorist bullets in Churachandpur”, Commissioner of Guwahati police Harmeet Singh tweeted.
According to a report, the military flight bringing the mortal remains of the braveheart landed directly in Jorhat on Sunday evening due to some technical problems.
The Indian Army also informed that the mortal remains of Rfn Suman Swargiary and other martyred soldiers were kept overnight in Jorhat and was taken to their respective destinations on Monday for the last rites.
Swargiary left behind his wife Jury Swargiary, and three-year-old son Barad Swargiary.
