Kokrajhar, September 14: The National Democratic Front of Boroland-Progressive (NDFB-P) reiterated its demand for a separate Bodoland on Friday.
“A political initiative is the need of the hour for the solution of the decade-long issues of the Bodos,” said Govinda Basumatary, General Secretary, NDFB-P.
The NDFB-P observed 30th Martyrs Day at Serfanguri designated camp in Kokrajhar.
“Due to the insincerity of the government as well political parties of the country, the demand for the Bodoland and issues of the Bodos have remained unsolved,” said Basumatary.
The NDFB-P paid floral tribute to the martyrs on the occasion. The flag was hoisted by Basumatary. The Martyrs Day was also observed at the designated camps in Barbaro, Baksa, Sapekaiti and Udalguri.
“Political willingness is very much needed to solve the Bodoland issue. A separate Bodoland is the ultimate goal because the Bodos are demanding for the Bodoland statehood since the last five decades. Although 13 years have passed since the ceasefire, there has been no resolvement of the Bodoland issues,” he said, while speaking to TIME8.
He added, “The political parties should take the initiative for the creation of Bodoland.”
