    Seven Arrested In Golaghat For Alleged Witch Hunting

    The Police are currently investigating the matter

    Seven persons were allegedly arrested for killing a person suspecting him of being a witch in Golaghat’s Barpathar.

    As per reports the person was killed two days ago and has been identified as Lakhiram Kheruwal of Chokoli Pathar Gaon.

    Reportedly, the Kheruwal was approached by a person named Ranjit Kheruwal for treating a woman. But, due to some reasons, an altercation took place between them and Lakhiram was killed by Ranjit and Kheruwal.

    His wife was also injured during the altercation and is currently under medical observation.

    Following this, an FIR was lodged by his family and seven suspects were arrested and booked under provisions of Assam Witch Hunting (Prohibition, Prevention and Protection) Act, 2015.

    Further investigations are on.
