Guwahati: The airport authority at Borjhar in Guwahati has submitted the CCTV footage of January 5, 2023, before a special CBI court after Indrani Mukerjea claimed that a woman looking similar to her deceased daughter Sheena Bora was seen at the airport that day.
Earlier on January 12, the CBI court directed the airport authority to furnish the footage. Mukerjea, who was already accused of killing her daughter Sheena, filed an application before the court claiming that Sheena was still alive.
Advocate Ranjeet Sangle, the counsel of Indrani, had claimed that one of the lawyers had known Sheena since 2007 and she had also filed an affidavit along with the video shot by them.
The petitioner urged the court to ask the agency to ascertain the woman’s identity. However, the investigation agency has rejected the claims.
CBI side said that the DNA report established that the skeleton found during the investigation was that of Sheena and allowing Indrani’s plea would be a waste of time and a mockery of justice.
However, the court observed that there was no harm in ascertaining the identity of the woman seen at the airport.
The investigation has charged Indrani, her ex-husband Sanjeev Khanna, and driver Shyamvar Rai of killing Sheena, Indrani’s daughter from her first partner, in a car on April 24, 2012, in Mumbai. They allegedly dumped her body in a forest in Raigad district the following day.
