Sherman Ali Demands Change In Assam Cong Leadership To Defeat BJP In 2021 Assembly Polls

Congress cannot defeat the BJP in the next Assembly Election under the leadership of Debabrata Saikia: Sherman Ali Ahmed

Congress MLA from Baghbar constituency Sherman Ali Ahmed on November 8th, 2019, demanded a change in the party leadership to defeat the Bharatiya Janata Party in the 2021 state Assembly Election.

“Congress cannot defeat the Bharatiya Janata Party in the next Assembly Election under the leadership of Debabrata Saikia,” Ahmed said.

Dissatisfied over the party leadership, the MLA said, “Debabrata Saikia has failed to lead the party. He always keeps mum in important matters in the Assembly. Hence, I signed the letter to the party president Sonia Gandhi demanding a change in the state leadership.”

It may be mentioned that 13 Congress leaders dashed off a letter to Sonia Gandhi demanding a change of leadership of Assam Congress Legislature Party (CLP) ahead of the Assembly Elections.

On November 7th, 2019, the Congress parliamentarian from Nagaon MP urged the party in-charge of Assam Harish Rawat for a change in the party leadership with “immediate leadership”. He told Rawat that “faceless competition will not work” to knock down the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the next Assembly elections.
