Gangtok, February 8, 2019

Sikkim Chief Minister Pawan Kumar Chamling on February 8th, 2019 said the ruling Sikkim Democratic Front (SDF) will field new faces in 50 per cent seats in the upcoming assembly election in the state. Moreover, he also informed that the party has planned to give 30 per cent tickets to women this time. Sikkim Legislative Assembly has 32 in Sikkim.

“The party will declare the candidate’s list soon after the announcement of election dates by the Election Commission,” Chamling said. The 68-year-old chief minister, who is also president of SDF, said he will contest from Namchi-Singhithang constituency in south Sikkim.

Chamling claimed that providing peace, security and a tranquil environment in the border state had been the most significant achievement of the SDF government.
