Gangtok: Bharat Basnett, President of Sikkim Pradesh Congress Committee, has resigned from congress. Basnett was associated with the Congress party from last three decades and was President of Sikkim congress from last seven years. Basnett was also two time Lok Sabah candidate from congress party and also contested Assembly polls.
Basnett said that he is not happy with the party’s decision. He also said that the party has appointed In-charge for Sikkim without consulting him and this is not the first time that they had taken a decision without consulting him.
He said “I am not happy with the decision, national party don’t understand the Sikkim’s aspirations. Till date I have responsibly handled the party and keep it alive but they don’t understand our issues”.
Sujit Singh Nagar was appointed as in-charge for Sikkim on Saturday. Basnett has appealed party high command at least they should consult Sikkim also before taking any decisions.
“The decision has hurt my dignity so I don’t want to lose my dignity” Basnett said.
