    Sikkim: No winter vacation for schools except for those located in high altitude zones

    The Education Department of Sikkim on Saturday has announced that there will be no winter vacation in the state except for high altitude schools.

    Guwahati: The Education Department of Sikkim on Saturday has announced that there will be no winter vacation in the state except for high altitude schools.

    The government has also asked the Examination Cell to direct accordingly to issue revised Academic calendar 2010-2021 immediately.

    The department has also requested to furnish the information of schools above 5,000 feet and to suggest short winter break about 2/3 weeks along with appropriate date and period.

    The department has taken the decision as for conducting classes in the higher altitude schools would be difficult due to extremely harsh climate condition during the month of December and January.
