Smuggling bid foiled, 20 buffaloes rescued in Cachar

Guwahati: The Security forces along with Cachar police seized 20 buffaloes that were allegedly being smuggled to Bangladesh through the international Indo-Bangla border on Friday.

Based on a tip-off, a truck was intercepted near Katigora in Silchar and on checking it; the police found that it was loaded with 20 domestic buffaloes.

The police immediately detained the driver of the truck and seized the bovines along with the truck for further investigation.

The police sources also informed that the truck driver had failed to produce any valid documentation about the bovine and also, the truck had no permit to transport livestock.

Meanwhile, an investigation has been initiated by the Cachar District police as it has been alleged that the buffaloes were being smuggled to Bangladesh.
