Special Train between Kamakhya and Murkongselek from October

The train will have stoppages at 24 stations during its journey in between Kamakhya and Murkongselek

GUWAHATI: The Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) has decided to introduce another passenger special train between Kamakhya and Murkongselek from October 1. The introduction of this special train will enable passengers from a vast part of Assam to avail the facility of train travel to various parts of the country.

The train will have AC 2 tier, AC 3 tier, sleeper class and general second class facilities. The train will have stoppages at 24 stations during its journey in between Kamakhya and Murkongselek. There will be no unreserved coaches.

NFR authorities said that passengers must download Aarogya Setu App and strictly observe social distancing both at the station and on trains.

“Wearing of face covers at the entry and during travel is a must. Only asymptomatic passengers with confirmed tickets will be allowed to enter the Railway station and board the train,” said SubhananChanda, Chief Public Relations Officer of NFR.

As per NFR, the Kamakhya – Murkongselek passenger special will leave from Kamakhya at 8.30 pm daily via Rangiya, Rangapara North, Harmuti, North Lakhimpur, Dhemaji and Silapather to reach Murkongselek at 7-45 am next day. During the return journey, the train will leave Murkongselek at 7.15 PM every day from October 1 to reach Kamakhya at 7.05 AM the next day.

In NFR area presently 11 pairs of special trains are presently in operation.

It may be mentioned here that all regular passenger train services on Indian Railways including Premium trains, Mail/Express trains, Passenger trains services, Narrow gauge train services were suspended in the wake of COVID-19 since the last week of March.
