    Mayong – the Black Magic capital of India

    The Mayong village in Assam is India’s very own land of magic and witchcraft!

    Located on the banks of the river Brahmaputra in the beautiful Morigaon district, this untouched village has been the center of black magic and sorcery in India. It is said that, here, witchcraft, sorcery and necromancy were not just practiced but passed down over generations.

    Stories and accounts of people vanishing, beasts being miraculously tamed and fatal diseases being cured have been long associated with Mayong. Although there’s no way to attest the authenticity of these stories, but the whole experience of opening yourself up to this world is certainly something worth writing home about.

    Haunted Lodge in Jorhat

    A place near the Gymkhana club in Jorhat has come to the forefront for some mysterious happenings. The so called haunted house was a Lodge of the Freemasons during the British rule.

    It is said that the house or lodge was abandoned after a ritual went wrong and since then mysterious sounds can be heard coming from that house. Visitors claimed to have found some demonic symbols at different spots inside the house.

    According to nearby residents, crying and weird noises, screaming and other inexplicable sounds have also been heard coming from the deserted old building. And now, no one dares to explore the abandoned building after sunset.

    A Banyan Tree, Puranigudam

    A banyan tree located in Kharigaon area of Nagaon district of Assam is said to be haunted as spirits of Assamese villagers. The year 1820 has been a witness to a deadly event in Assam during Assamese-Burmese wars. It is believed that during those days, the Burmese used to harass poor Assamese villagers. They would tie up the locals to the banyan tree, put them atop the tree and set the base on fire. It is believed that the spirits of the villagers linger around the tree. What Burmese did in the event of murdering them have now left them into spirits to never return anywhere!

    Bogijuli Camp

    It is a camping site near Nameri Forest reserve and is one of the scariest places in Assam. Visitors in the area have reported strange happenings and unexplained occurrences. The stories of the abnormal events state that people visiting the site during the dusk often hear a lady laughing, which is kind of spooky. But she never had been seen eye to eye.

    The visitors also reported hearing the sound of bamboos falling, but on investigation, they find nothing. It is not a place for spending a pleasant Sunday evening, so do not plan to go there unless you want to hear the laughing sounds of “ghosts”.

    Haunted House, Nagaon

    There is an abandoned house adjoining Tarun Phukan road in Nagaon which is predominantly one of the places to visit in Assam that’s reported to have been captured by a teenage girl’s spirit. It is believed that the girl was raped and murdered in the house and since then the spirit of the girl has been trying to even with the culprits.

    Hahim Picnic Spot

    Situated near Guwahati the Hahim picnic spot is a natural and quiet place for people to go with families and friends and enjoy the beautiful silent stream. This amazing picnic spot in Guwahati turns into silent spooky place after dark.

    The highway stretching through this particular area is believed to be entirely haunted.

    It is believed that the place is haunted by an evil witch who roams around the area. There have been many reports of paranormal activities and people have also complained about hearing unnatural sounds.
