SSR death case: NCB files chargesheet; Rhea Chakraborty named
Guwahati: The Mumbai Zonal Unit of the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) on Friday filed a lengthy chargesheet in front of special NDPS sessions court, nearly a year after Sushant’s death in June, 2020.
NCB has named Rhea Chakraborty, her brother Showik Chakraborty, Sushant’s house help and several drug peddlers in the case.
The over 12,000-page charge-sheet has named 33 accused along with statements of over 200 witnesses.
The NCB began probing the alleged use of drugs in some quarters in Bollywood after the death of Rajput (34) in June last year. The central agency started its probe on the basis on some WhatsApp chats having reference to drugs.
Earlier, the agency had arrested Rhea Chakraborty, Showik, some other staff members of Rajput and a few others under various sections of the narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
The chargesheet has gone beyond Sushant Singh Rajput’s death and traced the trail of narcotics – its sourcing and then distribution – in Mumbai.
In its six-month-long probe, the agency conducted raids in several locations of Maharashtra and claimed to have busted some rackets actively operating in the city and allegedly inside Bollywood.
The agency recorded statesmen of Deepika Padukone, Sara Ali Khan, Rakul Preet, Shraddha Kapoor, Arjun Rampal among others.
