Summer Vacation In Schools And Colleges In Assam Till May 31

SEBA and AHSEC will issue digital mark sheets to the students this year

The government of Assam has declared that summer vacation for schools and colleges from May 1 to May 31.

All the teachings activities in the schools and colleges have remained suspended in the state since March 23 however, there were several online classes going on.

The Assam Higher Secondary Education Council (AHSEC) and Board of Secondary Education Assam (SEBA) have also announced that they will issue digital mark sheets to the students this year in view of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) breakout.

The students will not be given the paper mark sheets this year and students for getting admitted to a college will have to use the digital mark sheets. The admission procedure this year will also be undertaken online and the guidelines regarding this will soon be announced.

The evaluation of the marks for the matriculation exams are already completed as per reports and the scripts are being brought back to the board’s office.

Keeping the lockdown issue in mind there is a chance that the government education department might extend the academic year till March 31st instead of December 31st.

The SEBA and AHSEC are trying to declare the results of High School Leaving Certificate (HSLC) or Class 10 final and Higher Secondary (HS) or Class 12 final by mid-June.

The evaluation work got hampered due to ongoing lockdown to prevent spread of novel coronavirus (COVID-19).

The results dates will be announced only after the lockdown is lifted.

A total of 3.58 lakh students appeared for the HSLC exam which concluded on February 29th, 2020.

This year, 3,48,739 HSLC candidates and 9,707 AHM candidates appeared for the Class 10 board examination in 860 centres across the State.

The HS exams were conducted from February 12th to March 14th, 2020 at 772 exam centres.

A total of 2.35 lakh students appeared for the Class 12 board exams in humanities, science, commerce and vocational studies streams.

It may be mentioned that as per the University Grants Commission, the next academic calendar for universities is likely to start from September.
