    Suspected JMB Members Nabbed From Assam’s Barpeta, Nalbari

    Shahanur Alam, the prime accused in the Burdwan blast and a dreaded JMB cadre was arrested from the same place by the security forces way back in 2014

    Ahead of the Independence day celebrations, the Assam Police have nabbed two suspected members of the banned Jamaat-ul-Mujahideen (JMB), an Islamic terrorist organisation operating in Bangladesh from Lower Assam districts of Nalbari and Barpeta.

    On the night of August 3rd, 2019, 22-year-old Mustafizur Rehman, a resident of Sarthebari town in Barpeta, was held on suspicion of his links with the JMB. Rehman a petty businessman completed his HSLC from a local school here. He also read the Hafizi Quran in a Bihar Madrassa.

    “He owns a mobile accessories shop and was involved in other petty business. We can never imagine of his involvement with any terror outfit. We are a simple family. His father was a Hindi teacher,” said Mustafizur’s mother while speaking to media persons.

    Shahanur Alam, the prime accused in the Burdwan blast and a dreaded JMB cadre was arrested from the same place by the security forces way back in 2014. Mustafizur had offered Eid namaz with Alam five years back, the locals said.

    On the other hand, one Sofiqul Islam was nabbed by the police from Nalabri district. He owns a nursery.

    It may be mentioned that in the last week, five suspected cadres of the terror outfit has been nabbed by the police from Lower Assam – Hafizur Rehman from Bhawanipur (Barpeta), Yakub Ali and Sariful Islam from Kayakuchi (Barpeta), Hanif Ali from Chirang district.
