At present, AFSPA is applicable in eight districts of Assam, which are, Tinsukia, Dibrugarh, Charaideo, Sivsagar, Jorhat, Golaghat, Karbi Anglong and Dima Hasao.

As per the official, the disturbed area tag has been extended for Tinsukia, Dibrugarh, Charaideo, Sivasagar, Jorhat, Golaghat, Karbi Anglong and Dima Hasao.

AFSPA has been withdrawn from selected, mostly urban police stations, in Imphal East and West, Bishnupur, Thoubal, Jiribam and Kakching
The AFSPA empowers security forces to arrest a person without a warrant, enter or search premises without a warrant along with some other controversial actions.
At present, the Army is deployed in only five districts of Tinsukia, Dibrugarh, Charaideo, Karbi-Anglong and Dima Hasao.
